IEA Clubs

Watch, read and speak with attention.

Three distinct clubs, connected by a common purpose: stronger English and deeper engagement with life.

Normal club day · Tuesday

Film Club

Meaningful cinema becomes a starting point for listening, interpretation, discussion and reflection.

  • Watch carefully selected films or important sequences.
  • Notice dialogue, performance, visual choices and filmmaking.
  • Use listening and speaking activities before and after viewing.
  • Discuss characters, choices, conflicts and the film’s central questions.
  • Learn to express a response beyond a simple review or rating.

Film Club is not merely a screening. Members prepare, watch attentively and take part in guided English activities that help them understand both the film and their own response to it.

Normal club day · Thursday

Reading Club

Literature, essays and important books are read slowly enough to build language and understanding together.

  • Read significant literary and reflective texts.
  • Develop vocabulary through context rather than isolated word lists.
  • Practise identifying main ideas, detail, tone and viewpoint.
  • Interpret difficult passages through guided questions.
  • Share responses and listen to different readings of the same text.

The session gives members time to stay with a text, ask questions and articulate what they have understood. Reading becomes an active encounter rather than a race to finish pages.

Normal club day · Sunday

Awareness Club

Personal, social and philosophical questions become the basis of structured speaking and reflection.

  • Explore questions connected with everyday life and society.
  • Take part in pair work, group tasks, games and open discussion.
  • Practise speaking clearly without relying on memorised answers.
  • Learn to examine assumptions and listen to opposing views.
  • Use English to communicate observations, reasons and questions.

Awareness Club is neither a lecture nor an ordinary social gathering. It is a participatory English-learning space in which thoughtful inquiry and communication support each other.
